Thoughts of an (Almost) Casual

I read a few posts on this blog before writing this one.  It made me think about how much free time I had back then and how much less time I have now.  (Translation: Just because I'm writing this post does not mean that I will be active on this blog again.)

Also, the comments.  The majority of them are from spam bots.  Most of the genuine comments are from people playing Aurum Blade.  I'm sorry, but I can't help you with Siren.  I had (had) Aurum Blade on my Android phone around last year.  Then my mom took it away (yes, I am still a minor).  So I forgot almost everything.  I still remember Siren was a b*tch (excuse my language) to defeat.  Good luck, have fun, don't ragequit.

So where has the time gone, and what have I done with mine in the past year?  I'll try my best to cover this.

In my final post of last year, I cited YouTube as a reason why I was stopping my posts.  My last YouTube video was published in June, not too long after April/May.  So that didn't really go anywhere.  By then, I had grown sick and tired and tired and sick of the monstrosity that was EpicDuel Omega.  The purpose of Varium was near nerfed into the ground (that is, it provided no advantage other than getting gear more quickly).  I was a semi-free player, and prior to Omega, I enjoyed my spot between the people who bought a promo pack of Varium every month and the hardcore free-to-players.  Both were still a good challenge to defeat, though.  I'm pretty sure the true reason why I left, however, was because of the FUCKING STAT REVAMP.  I liked it better when all weapons had a set amount of stats and damage that could not be changed.  And when cores were an idea posted only in the ED Suggestion Forums.  Maybe I was just too used to the old ways.  So I left. I expressed no regret- after all, I had been playing the game for almost three years and had probably outgrown little Flash games.  Time to move on to bigger and better things.
No, this is not me.  I googled "fate".  Never knew Steam sold Fate, though.  Go buy the game or pirate it like I did.   Go play it.

At this point in time (beginning of summer 2013) I had only one computer game I played consistently and on a regular basis: Minecraft (oh, and I also bought legit premium shortly before my last post here.  I believe I played almost exclusively on Hypixel's Server.  (I also remember playing quite a bit of Fate- the original Fate.)

During the summer, however, most of the time I was away from the computer (summer school and whatnot).  So I turned to my phone.  I eventually found a mobile TCG called Spellstorm.  It's a husk of its former self from a year ago- don't play it.  But back then, it was in the prime of its life.  New content updates on a regular basis, a thriving playerbase, and probably the best forums you could ever ask for.  There were almost exclusively adults on there.  As a result, the forums were always civilized.  I spent a lot of time playing Spellstorm, and even more time on its forums.  Eventually, I became a moderator there, but that's not important.  What is important is that I played Spellstorm almost every day (phone app= more accessibility) until about October/November.  Then, my mom stepped in and took away my phone.  This was the base for my stopping of playing Spellstorm (yes, that is grammatically correct).  I fell behind new stuff, and eventually, I got bored with the app.  Just in time, too.

The Spellstorm team seemed to be falling apart.  The content updates were obvious rehashes of old stuff, the new pieces of content were money grabs, and it became apparent that the game was a huge clickfest.  Plus, the bugs, which had always been prevalent in the app, almost ran amok now.  That is, I'm pretty sure the programmers got up and left.  Many times, these bugs made the app unplayable.  And the app's customer service was sadder than shit (lack of people, not skill- those who did man Customer Service were extremely nice and well-known on the forums).  It was obvious that Spellstorm's developers under the helm of TinyCo had almost ceased work on the app.  Which really, really sucked, especially since Spellstorm was the only one with potential on the app market (and half-decent graphics).

But I must go back a bit.  During late summer of that year, I had found an SNES emulator for my phone (SNESDroid).  It opened up a whole new world of games (thanks, CoolRom) to me.  I downloaded three SNES games: Final Fantasy VI, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, and Chrono Trigger.

But wait: I must go back even further (yeah sorry, I know, fuck chronological order).  Prior to summer, a classmate at school had introduced me to The Sandbox (you should check it out if you don't already know what it is).  It was fun- very fun.  But that's not my point.  There was (and probably still is) a user gallery.  In one of the top rated works, I found a Sandbox version of "Chrono Trigger 600 AD" (using "Note" pixels one can create tunes in The Sandbox).  I listened to the song and I liked it (this was back when I still though Chrono Trigger involved a gun).  I liked it enough to go looking for Chrono Trigger.  That brings me to the previous paragraph.

So I played Chrono Trigger- my first SNES game.  I loved it.  Until I got to a certain point in 2300 AD (for those retro gamers, it's when you enter 2300 AD for the first time).  I had to enter a certain combination of buttons to go further by pressing the buttons all at once.  I couldn't.  The emulator didn't accept multi-input.  I did my homework and found that other emulators did, as did the original SNES (duh).  Well, crap.  I was stuck there.

I eventually gave up on Chrono Trigger and moved on to Final Fantasy VI.  I think I got stuck somewhere very early on (before Narshe, for those who played the game).  I gave up on it as well, and was considering deleting it (luckily, I didn't).  So I moved on, this time to A Link to the Past.

I went somewhere with that game.  It was fun, and the dungeons challenging.  In order to beat the first boss, I spent almost an hour circling him around a table in order to avoid his extremely damaging ranged attack.  Often was the day where I would have SNESDroid and Firefox open on my phone.  Thank you, StrategyWiki.  I loved the game, and all of the extra things in it that one didn't necessarily have to find.  I ended up with only one more dungeon to go.  Unfortunately, I had had enough of Link by then, so I got bored.  Then I gave Final Fantasy VI a second chance.

It worked out this time.  I loved the traditional RPG style game it was and the huge (14!) character cast.  I loved the storyline and the monsters and bosses.  I ended up just one dungeon away from the final boss (what a coincidence).  I was steamrolling over the game and ready to beat it.  Then my mom took my phone away (keep in mind that at this point in time, I was playing these SNES games as well as Spellstorm).  So, too bad.  I didn't get to hand Kefka's ass to him.  Oh well.

So the school year started up again.  I started playing Minecraft again.  However, this time I found a nice new server (PlayMindcrack) with its own textures, sound packs, and minigames.  It was a smaller server, but still, I loved it (and its level up system!).  That's pretty much all I did for the first half of the 2013-2014 Minecraft/school year: Hypixel and PMC (not to be confused with Planet Minecraft).  Then I found Hearthstone.

Hearthstone had been in closed beta for quite a while, but one of my friends told me about the game one day at school.  Intrigued, I tried it out.  I was a scrub and lost a crapton at the beginning, but I loved the game and stuck with it.  Hearthstone is a CCG (not quite TCG, but I'll take it) that really introduced me to real cardplaying games and strategy (I would rather not rant about how most if not all- including Spellstorm- TCGs on the mobile market have crappy automated random-ass battle systems).  I owned some MTG cards, but I never really tried to play the game (mostly because no one in my physical area wanted to play MTG.  Also, I tried Magic 2014, but much of the app is locked to all but those who shell out ten dollars.  Hell no.)  Hearthstone was the perfect F2P card game I was (not really) looking for.  I took a liking to it and stuck with it.

Now, time for a bit of bragging (depends on your point of view, actually).  I created my Battle.net account and installed Hearthstone somewhere in mid-December 2013.  December was Hearthstone's first Closed Beta ranked season, but I didn't rank at all (Angry Chicken please).  R25 scrub, woohoo.  The second season, January, I did slightly better.  Rank 16.  And on it goes.
Season 3: R14
Season 4: R14
Season 5: R14 (pattern much)
However, this season, May, I am rather happy to have finally broken that invisible wall and continue onto rank 13!  I probably could have gone further, but I will explain why I didn't.

Actually, wait a sec.  I must go backward a few months first.  Just a note.  I pretty much stopped playing Minecraft in February.  I know, too bad, no more Island of Doom videos.  (Well, the hard drive on which the world is on is screwed up, anyway.)

Okay.  Back to May of this year.  In early May, one of my friends told me about Smite (a MOBA, like League- another game I voluntarily don't play, but all of my friends do).  I downloaded Smite.  Was hooked fairly quickly.  (I swear, the smartest decision the game devs have made was making Smite a third-person viewpoint game.  Gets all the MMO(RPG) players.)  So now I play Smite pretty much every day.  (Case in point- I played about ten hours today).  I still play Hearthstone some, but not a whole lot.

A very, very, simplified history of my gaming life since April 2013.  Goodbye all, and I hope I get around to posting here again.  But for now, I need to complete a history project and get my ass off this toilet already.

~ReconnaisX

PS: I am also an avid Twitch watcher (of Hearthstone and Smite.  I also watched the original Twitch Plays Pokemon).  Also, some nice FFVI fanart.  As you probably expected, I can name everyone here.

Using my Delta Builds in Omega- My "Best TLM Build Ever"

Hello everyone.  Today, I shall be explaining why you can't (for the most part) use my Delta-era builds in Omega.
The big (really big) factor is the fact that now everyone is restricted with stat points.  From Gamma to Delta, enhancements were everyone's way of getting out of the (rather measly) amount of stat points that each weapon had.  I realized that there were Level 34 (or 35) people out there completely decked out in Varium gear and wielding fully enhanced weapons.  I couldn't keep up with them in terms of Varium, so I just got Varium when I could and tried to make my builds as Varium-free as possible, for at the time, to be a non-varium was a big risk.
A year and then some after Delta starts, Omega finally launches.  Everything has changed with weapons.  Stats can now be freely allocated to whatever category you like, but there are caps to how many stat points you can put in each category.  Requirements have been demolished.  Encumbrance is gone, too.  Agility is nowhere to be found.  There are these new and mysterious things called cores- passive cores and active cores.  And enhancements have been bulldozed from the game.  How could I forget?
I shall be explaining why the following build is not really Omega-usable. (Thanks to @MeganintenDork on Twitter for telling me that one of my TLM builds didn't work.)

In my blog post about this build, I called it "my best TLM build ever".  And it was.  Allow me to explain this one.
The first stat that most notice is my strength, which is 58+14, or 72.  That amounted to a 17-21+35-2.  In case if you need a refresher, -2 refers to encumbrance, which was a concept introduced in Delta which allowed everyone to wield weapons with up to four more levels in requirements.  Of course, once everyone got to Level 30, they started to abuse that.
I had a Level 4 Double Strike, which was fairly strong (Level 4).  The concept I abused, though, was that it had one turn of cooldown.  One turn is rather OPed, because then every other turn I could use Double Strike.  I made good use of that with 71 Energy, allowing for many Double Strikes.
The Level 7 Field Medic was a safety net in case if I ever got into a sticky situation.  It was Level 7 because heck, why not?  I had the energy to afford it.
The Level four Field Commander was a boost for those "just in case" moments or if I needed a nice boost to 20-24 weapon damage.  It was not necessary for a win with my build.
Max Reroute made use of the fact that my defense and resistance were only average.  Therefore, I could take advantage of that and gain more energy from my opponent's attacks, when I would then use to heal.  An extra Double Strike was always nice, too.
This build required a few enhancements- only nine stats in all, which was low when you considered that the highest number of enhancement stats a build could have was forty.
100 Agility provided a nice little +1 to both Defense and Resistance.  It helped to counter the -1 encumbrance my Beast Rider armor had.

However, that was from Delta.  Time to blast this build to pieces.
Firstly, strength has been nerfed.  I estimate that if I used this build today on my TLM with the exact same everything at the same level, it would only reach 14-17+35-2, which is not very strong.  One must not forget that now Strength improves with every 4.5 points invested into it, which may not seem like much, but is a considerable blow in the long run.  Plus, diminishing effects still exist today.

Second, stat allocation (if not already obvious) has been changed (for better or worse, I don't know).  This is probably the main factor in the destruction of this build.
For your convenience and mine (that is, not having to scroll up to see the build), I shall be:

Now, look at the stat allocation.
My base for strength was 58, and the add-ons only added up to 14.  This included a +4 enhancement.  You could tell that I was investing more of my points in Strength.
Now, look at this old (Delta-era) wiki page on the Energy Rapier:

Now, look at my build again.  You can tell that 25 support doesn't exactly indicate my use of any Support-related skills or mechanics in battle.  That total +15 to support was not needed and useless.
a) I only had 25 support in the first place because of:
The Carrierzooka had a 25 support requirement.  However, in Delta, the Carrierzooka was an all-around good auxiliary.  New Hope, the mercenary who topped the leaderboards for much of EpicDuel's history, would often use this as her auxiliary.

b) The +15 to support came from the +7 support on the Energy Rapier and--

Yeah, that.  Also the +8 on the Beast Rider armor.

The +29 to dexterity was composed of the stats on my weapons and a +5 to dexterity on my Beast Rider.  Because Carrot Impaler is the only weapon here in my build that I haven't shown an (old) Wiki page of, here goes:

The base weapon stats that contributed to part of my add on to dexterity are as follows:
  1. +7 from my Energy Rapier
  2. +6 from my Carrot Impaler
  3. +4 from my Carrierzooka
  4. +6 from my Beast Rider
For Technology:
  1. +12 from my Energy Rapier (I loved that weapon)
  2. +4 from my Carrot Impaler
  3. +5 from my Carrierzooka
  4. +4 from my Beast Rider
For Support (even though I already mentioned that this was useless):
  1. +7 from my Energy Rapier
  2. +8 from my Beast Rider
Well, there you have it- a breakdown of my stat allocation.

And now for a little explanation of Health and Energy.
Today's TLM's base stats are as follows:
  • Health: 55
  • Energy: 54
  • Strength: 18
  • Dexterity: 22
  • Technology: 19
  • Support: 21
The Delta TLM's base stats:
  • Health: 47
  • Energy: 43
  • Strength: 18
  • Dexterity: 22
  • Technology: 19
  • Support: 21
Today's TLM starts with more Health and Energy, but there is a trade-off (in case if you haven't noticed it yet).  Every stat point invested into either Health and Energy only increases it by 1 now, as opposed to two pre-Omega.  That is a very big game-changer that limits creative builds, in particular high-health or high-energy builds.  I still hate the devs over this decision.

Should I do an Omega redesign of my build?  Even if I wanted to, I wouldn't be able to.  It's part of the reason why I play on my CH now.
My advice for anyone who wants to try this build, though, is to
  1. Put no points in Support.
  2. Put more points in Strength, either through retraining or weapon stats, because of all of the nerfs Strength has undergone ever since Delta.
  3. Use any variant of Assault Bot- I didn't mention that I was using one in the original post and besides, nerfs are pesky little things to TLMs.
  4. Make sure your final defense and resistance are not low.  I would put points in Dexterity until your defense hits 22-27 (+9).  That is still rather low.  For Technology, put points in until your resistance gets to (at the very least) 22-27 (armor stat not included).
  5. Make sure to put your armor points in Technology.
  6. If you have a higher level than 33, by all means put that skill point in Mineral Armor.
  7. Get Generator as an active core.  This is possibly the best core ever.
  8. Maybe use Field Commander a bit more.  If you heeded my warnings about defense and resistance, you might not have enough points in Strength left to make an impact.  FC may be the only way out, in this case.
  9. Maybe cut down on the energy and move it to the more essential health (remember my section on health and energy?)
  10. Not use it.  There are too many variables and things that have changed.

Finishing EpicDuel's Last Set of Frysteland Missions

Okay, so now Omega 1.5.5 is out for ED, and there are a lot of new missions.  So that means that it's time for me to cover them (in chronological order).

Rabble's Vendetta
Location: Rabblefroth, Minetower
So Rabblefroth wants you to fight five yetis.  (Oh, a Frost Reaper counts.)  This should be pretty easy unless you're at the lower-level end of the spectrum.  And 1000 Credits isn't too bad, either.

Food for the Gods
Location: Titan, Titan's Peak, Frysteland
Rabblefroth has sent you to Titan for more information on the Endless, and Titan only wants you to get dessert for him.  You must be his personal assistant.  But 500 battle tokens is worth it for a slice of cake.

Cold Comfort
Location: Krampus Warrior, Frysteland
It's a little lame how Titan can't walk a bit to get to the Krampus Warrior just outside of Titan's peak.  But the warrior tells you that you have to get five yeti pelts.  This can be a little boring, as the drop rate of the pelt decreases with each tier of yeti (Frost Demon>Yeti Hulk>Frost Reaper).  Oh, and I didn't know that the Reaper and Demon count as yetis.  They don't look like it.

New Allegiance
Location: King Alaric, RIGHT FREAKING NEXT TO THE KRAMPUS WARRIOR, Frysteland
This is stupid- the warrior can't walk over to Alaric, who just happens to be next to him.  Instead, you can play messenger again.  Alaric wants 12 PvP wins out of you- something about training (I forgot).  This took a while for me, though, as I do 2vs2.  If you mainly play 1vs1, this might be a little quicker, although if this mission was not here, I would have finished the storyline *much* sooner.  But as always, Credits help ease the pain (and freaking boredom of knowing that you are just fighting to complete a mission).

I AM A KRAMPUS
Location: Edgar Boothe, Frysteland
(I like the name of the mission.  All Caps certainly has its effects.)
So Alaric has made Boothe the Shaman.  (What about Aldhagrimm?)  He's using your Summoning Stone* to summon the Endless**, and indeed, when you fight the Elite Yeti, the Endless will be right there, and the Yeti will be a hell of a lot easier to beat.  And of course, you savagely rip take its horn as a trophy after the Yeti's defeat.
Oh, and one can infer that every Shaman can only summon the Endless once in his/her life (read the mission text after completion).

*Note about the Sumonning Stone
I don't think you actually need the Stone to complete this mission.  After finishing the entire chain, I still have it.  And the Stone was never a requirement to complete the mission.  Therefore, you can just start at Rabble without having completed any of other Frysteland 2013 missions.

**Note about the Endless
He looks pretty cool.

The Torch Passes
Location: Aldhagrimm, Frysteland
Boothe wants you to take the Horn to Aldhagrimm.  You get the Endless Guardian*** cheevo, which is worth 2000 rating points.  Sweet.

***Note about Endless Guardian
I thought storyline cheevos were always at 1000 (exception being the Bionic Battalion: 750,750,1500).

Omega Tank (Sort Of)

Last Friday's ED release really screwed things up for my hybrid build (see last few posts).  Support has been nerfed and needs more points for the same amount of damage.  Hardcore support players (for example, 30-36 aux damage before the nerf) could still reasonably play, but my build used a little bit of support, and not a lot.  So I went with the flow.  I decided to make a tank build.

First, I started with my item stats.  I restatted everything to put all possible points into Dexterity and Technology.  Any extra points went into strength.  I was completely shunning Support here.

Then, I designed my build.  A high level Field Medic is a nice feature of any tank, as it allows tanks, which normally already take a while to punch through, to live longer.  My level 6 Field Medic heals 49 health points, which is a considerable chunk.  Max Plasma Armor is a must, in my opinion, as it allows for more resistance.  Level 6 Static Charge is a nice round number- 25%.  I have one level in defense matrix in case if anything goes wrong with my dexterity.  I put seven points into Malfunction.  The rest went into EMP Grenade, as those Support (and generally any type of) builds are still annoying and need to be taken care of.

More stats: this time of my weapons.

I don't think that the Generator core is a must, it's just left over from my other builds.  Used in this one, though, it heals 23 health and recovers 5 energy.

My technology-based robot damage is nothing special (12).  Robots are still a powerful weapon of tanks, though.
 And that's it!

How Did I Respond to this Burst of OPed Builds?

Yeah.  For the most part, I just stuck with my regular 4 Focus, 115 Health build.

Then I got creative.  I (kind of) joined the dark side (Support to be exact).  Except I added my unique hybrid touch.
Here's a bigger picture-

Allow me to dissect this build, starting from the top down.
Field Medic: 5 Field Medic for a quick comeback.
Cheap Shot: Really no use except as a last resort (and I mean last).
EMP Grenade: Practically an essential for every Cyber Hunter.
Plasma Armor: Might as well capitalize on this, as I have 45 Technology.
Static Charge: Conveniently at 25%.  Sure, energy return is a little small, but after Level 6, the % per level lowers a lot.
Defense Matrix: For that Smoke Screen.  Level 2 makes it +24 Defense.
Malfunction: Level 7 brings my Malf above 40, which is a nice, solid number.
Plasma Grenade: Just so you can be prepared for any situation :P
Massacre: Again, this is to adapt to all possible situations.  I am taking advantage of the excess energy that everyone has here.  I usually do 40-45 damage, and then supplement that with my auxiliary (or the other way around).  Very good in my build.

Now for my stats.
95 Health will always be a Health cornerstone.
72 Energy is my bare minimum.
I have 5 Focus stats (45 on everything) because of the +30 that is added to my robot damage.

My weapons are pretty average, except for my claws (when I use Massacre) and my auxiliary (well, 16-20 is low compared to the other Support builds you see out there).  My robot is a big advantage.  It serves as my only physical attack (yeah, having only one that needs a three turn cooldown is a bit risky) and a good energy attack (when I wait long enough, usually after Massacre, Generator, and Auxiliary).

My cores are:
1) a useless Icy Chill on my blades
2) Generator, which is useful every once in a while (more useful in other builds, actually)

Now for the stats on my weapons.
Blades: Energy, 32 Damage, +0/+7/+3/+8.
Gun: Energy, 33 Damage, +0/+7/+2/+7.
Armor: Hybrid, +7/+2, +0/+6/+5/+6.  Has Generator Core, which might come in handy.
Auxiliary: Energy, 37 Damage, +0/+5/+4/+4.
Robot: Physical (special is energy), 12 Base Damage, Infernal Android.

I should be making a Youtube video of this soon.

Overpowered Builds (at the Moment)

Those builds.  Those overpowered builds.  I would like to point attention to a couple of builds which I (and certainly others) have labeled as OPed.

Firstly- Support Blood Mage.

@_RaynieDays_ (just someone I know on Twitter) tweeted "Too many people use support BM now...fuck I HAD a unique build :'( ".

Personally, I don't know about this.  I haven't encountered these people too often to make it a big problem.  However, I imagine Intimidate (which is a very powerful skill right now, as we are talking about Support here) could be used in the classic fashion.  Energy Shield and Reflex Boost would get a big buff, but this is all in theory.  Remember, I haven't fought too many of them to remember.
Still- theoretically dangerous.

How to Counter: I don't know.  Energy drain seems to be a start, though.

Next, Support Tactical Mercenary.

I don't need anyone's tweet this time around.  I know this from experience.
These TLMs are like your normal Support Mercenary, except that they have Reroute, which is nasty given that less def/res of theirs equals more damage of yours which equals more energy to them.  I imagine that they could have a high Field Medic to capitalize on that. You never saw that.
In the worst cases, they have Max Poison Grenade for a follow-up attack.  Ugh.  (Oh, don't get any ideas from this section.  Please.)

How to Counter: Use your Yeti to chomp their auxiliary (be sure to strategically use it).  Paired with the core Azrael's Will (which by the way is overpowered too and will likely be nerfed), one's rage can be effectively wasted.

Next, Strength Tactical Mercenary.

Well, this build wasn't triggered by anything.  I was actually waiting for it to spring up.
I realized the potency of this build during the Infernal War.  Back then, I had my Level 34 TLM and I was thinking of smart builds to counter the Delta Vault (and the Mechachillids).  I stumbled on the fact that Double Strike had a one turn cooldown.
Bam, instant abuse.  Pair this with Reroute and Field Medic.  Terrific.  There are other ways to make this build even more OPed, but I won't say.  Heck, I'm trying to help out balance here.

How to Counter: Let's hope they put a lot of points into Strength, so their defense and resistance are open.  Good luck!

Next, Support Mercenary.

The classic build from the days of Beta has come back.
This person uses a lot of support (no duh), Artillery Strike (no duh), and an auxiliary (no duh).  It's really simple, but it is effective (teams of them are the worst).  In the worst cases, they have Assimilation, too, to help along with that rage bar.
It's a little ironic, how the changes to Hybrid Armor (now requires support) have actually helped these guys.

How to Counter: Yeti, Energy Drain.  Azrael's Will if you have it.  A lot of luck.

Next, Strength Mercenary.

I consider this type of person to be easier than their strength class counterpart.  A well-placed Energy drain can do wonders.  Just remember to be on the offensive so they can be taken out quicker.
The changes to Hybrid Armor have hurt these guys.  Do you really expect them to have points in Support?

How to Counter: Energy Drain.  And always be on the offensive.

Basically, guys, mercenaries are as dangerous as f*ck right now.

PS: I should do a post on the Azrael weapons (promo), as they are worthy of one.

EpicDuel Omega- Cores

The concept of cores could probably be considered a new feature in Omega.  Instead, really, it's just the concept of weapon specials wrapped inside new packaging.
Remember EpicDuel Pre-Omega?  So some weapons had special effects- let's take the Azrael's Bane.  It had the Mark of Azrael, which meant that each hit with that sword had a 5% higher chance to achieve a critical hit.  The concept of cores is that you can take that weapon special and slap it on your other (in this case, primary) weapons.  Oh, and armors can have cores, too.  Cores basically are that little trick up your sleeve (that you paid 7k Credits/495 Varium for).
So, how to put a core on your weapon?  Well, select the weapon first.

Underneath the stat points and damage, you can see two apparently empty dotted boxes.  One has a lightning bolt icon and the other, a skull icon.  The lightning box represents passive cores and the skull box represents active cores.  Passive cores are always effective during battle; they're like passive skills (hello Blood Lust).  Active cores, on the other hand, can be used once and only once per battle.  You can do that clicky trick with them.
Anyhow, click an empty box:
A list of cores that you can put in that slot will appear.  Take your pick, pay, and you're done.  Wasn't that easy?
~ReconnaisX
PS: I don't know how to remove cores.

EpicDuel Omega- The Character Profile

I thought that the profile would be a good place to start.  After all, a lot of people see theirs and others' often.
Here's a picture of my current profile:

Well, the name itself is more aligned to the left now.  It's separated by a bar that continues on and on, for the rest of the profile space.

In all of the damage fields, it does not list Energy Damage or Physical Damage now, just Energy and Physical.  I don't see this having too much mass effect, really, just a simplification.

Robot damage has been split more cleanly: Technology Bonus (and damage range) + the base damage of the robot you are equipping (now one single base number) + your focus.

Agility has been removed.  This might be worth talking about in another post.  But notice how my health is <95 (as mostly everyone's is), and I have no +1/+1 bonus.

The 'Character Page' button has been removed and replaced with a simple 'Webpage' button.  (Note: Nothing has happened to the character page itself.)

The 'Cancel' button, for when you are done viewing a profile, used to be where the Webpage/Achievements buttons are.  It has been replaced by an 'X' at the top right corner.  This is very hard to get used to for me  (It's hard to switch when you have been playing two years with the same thing).

The silver Battle Token symbol is gone from the main screen and now rests here in the form of a button called 'Achievements'.  I keep on accidentally viewing someone's achievements when I'm done with their profile (see above).

Not much changed, here, in my opinion.  The more drastic changes lie elsewhere.

Pre-Omega Madness and about the Enhancer Cheevos

Well, a lot is going to change.  That's for sure.

I won't elaborate now, just talk a bit about Oz W7 today and the Enhancer cheevos.  First, W7:

Yeah, so it was a bit laggy.  Actually, really laggy.  There were two types of people here:
1) "Take off your bikes!" (Unequipping bikes helps stop lag)
2) "OMG!!!111eleven"

A few mods were here, too.  Charfade was "hiding", and Eventus and Goony (and his copycats) were here, too.  I remember one guy who yelled "Nightwraith's at the Minetower World 5!".  That probably was to help shoo away people.  (A little later on: "Biodome World 7!")

Now, about the Enhancer cheevos.

It turns out that Delta was not the big enhancement-fest I thought it was.  For example, on my BM (ReconnaisX) I had only enhanced a couple of weapons to the max.  I ended up with Legendary Enhancer (top 12.5% of all enhancers) on that character.  It's a shame that ReconnaisX is disabled.
I read on the forums about this guy who spent ~200k on Enhancements.  So I wasn't too surprised that he got Ultimate Enhancer (top 1%).
Merc1225 got Prestigious Enhancer (top 50%), and Bountyhunter1225 just got Epic Enhancer (basically top 100%, if you understand what I mean).

At least all that enhancing of the Dark Ages is over.  Rejoice!

PS: I will be blogging some more after the actual release of Omega (which should be in a few hours).

For all of my Youtube viewers out there.

Here are some of my more recent videos:

EpicDuel- Switch to Cyber Hunter

Minecraft- Daylight Sensors

EpicDuel- 2vs2 Battles

Minecraft- Island of Doom- Part Seven

For those of you who subscribe to me just for my RuneScape videos, I'm currently not making RS videos right now.  It really all depends on what game I'm playing.  (Although I do have an old hour long clip of some Clan Wars battles.)  What game I play really just depends on whether or not the other games are getting boring.

I have an idea about recording Quell and Quell Reflect videos.

My Switch to Cyber Hunter

I've finally made the switch tons of other bounty hunters made when Delta came out.  Well, I'm a Cyber Hunter now.  Weird.
I really don't know what made me do the switch.  Actually, let's go back a bit more.  I had 4,000+ Artix Points sitting in my Master Account.  I was going to save up for 10,000 Artix Points (aka 10000 Varium and 5 keys), but that went down the drain when I remembered how much I wanted the Wraith Weapons (a lot).  So I thought about it.  And then bought the varium.
Now, what did I do with the Varium?  I realized that my love of Wraith Weapons had suddenly vanished.  I still wanted a Varium weapon, though.  So I went over to Rabblefroth.
Rabble did not disappoint.  I went away with Macabre Harvest, which I bought for its suspiciously tankish stats (+15 dex, +8 tech).
Then I hit another wall.  What the hell was I going to do in battle with an energy primary and sidearm as a Bounty Hunter?  And no, I was not going to save up to get a physical gun.  I go on EpicDuel about once a week now (suffering from 'I will play other games while Omega is still in development' syndrome), just to prove to my faction leader that I am still alive and on a computer.  (I wonder what Faye Runaway is thinking of my disabled Tactical Mercenary- if she sees this, Merc1225 is disabled, and yes, it may take a while before I have him back, along with ReconnaisX).
Wow.  That went off-topic really fast.  But anyhow, I switched.  There.  Simple as that.
And then I hit yet another wall.  What kind of build would I use?  Strength was definitely out of the question; that is for people with all varium weapons enhanced to the max who will probably leave when Omega is released. I just wanted a simple basic build (and to balance my defense and resistance.  That didn't work so well, try using Plasma Armor with Cardboard Crusader).  I was familiar with only one in the CH category (don't worry, I know a crapton of builds for the other five classes, as I have played as one before).  And that happened to be a Five Focus build.  Ha.
Note the obvious unbalancement of defense and resistance.  Then add 10 to the resistance.  Yeah, I know.
That's my build up there.
But really, even as I write/type/push buttons at 70 wpm/demonstrate an input-output system, I am still thinking: Am I an idiot?  I joined the already massive league of Cyber Hunters months after their great nerfs.

~ReconnaisX

PS: Since I am a Cyber Hunter, I guess now I shall be arguing for them, which is ironic, because at one time in my ED life I hated them to no end.

DRAFT POST- EpicDuel- Thanksgiving Day Weapons- Swords, Part 1

Note: Publishing as is.  I know that the Soul Hawk section is not complete, but I will never finish this.

Oh, by the way...
There is no point in reviewing each weapon- all of the Physical class-specific weapons have the same stat+requirement layout, as do the Energy ones.  The only exception here are the swords and the auxiliaries.  Therefore, I will stop posting these pictures of class-specific Thanksgiving day weapons, as there will be no review to follow.  I'm just going to skip to the swords.

Four weapons and one ice cream sandwich (yum) later...
Okay, now onto the swords.

Autumn Sword
In a rare occurence, EpicDuel has released a weapon for the under-level-35 group.  In this case, for level 22 to 26.  That's low, lower than the third Suggestion Shop, which was packed with not-at-the-level-cap weapons.
The Autumn Sword's stats (+6 strength, +5 dexterity, +4 technology) make it a good general weapon for a level 26 and maybe even a strength sword.  It's cheap, cheap compared to what most mid-levels have in their credit funds (5500 credits).  The only requirement which seems out of the ordinary is 36 dexterity.  All in all, if you have a low-level, get it.

Bounty of Souls
Look at the AQW-like art here- the skull is not as sophisticated as ED's.
But whatever- the stats on this sword (+10 Dex, +7 Tech, +7) are overly general.  The only way this can get worse is +6/+6/+6/+6.  Seriously.  But if you find some use in it, go ahead and get it.
The requirements themselves aren't too interesting.  35 Strength, 30 Technology, 30 Support.  Doesn't seem very flexible.

Golden Harvest
This sword has really got it done strength-wise.  +15 is a bit OPed, I say.  On the def/res stat side, it's got +5 Technology, but no Dexterity, so fear not, unless your opponent also has some dex-heavy weapons.  As an oddball stat, there's also +8 Support.  These stats remind me of the Ebil Hazard Husk (+10/+0/+4/+6).  Maybe a primary weapon for the Ebil Hazard Husk?
Still, the requirements are very easy to fulfill.  40 Strength will obviously be surpassed if this is used for a strength build.  35 Dexterity might be a bit tougher for extreme strength, but it's doable.
All in all, if you're a strength build you might want this sword.  If you jump builds all the time, like me, who knows, you might need this.
Macabre Harvest
This sword is the energy equivalent of the Golden Harvest.  As such, it's decked out in the typical blue color scheme of energy weapons.  I see two skulls peeking out of the sides, but the big plant-thingy on the hilt (a few searches later, it's formally called the crossguard) really takes away any signs of deadliness the skulls may represent.
It has 15 Dexterity, similar to how the Golden Harvest has 15 Strength.  8 Technology is present to further support the 'tank' image.  5 Support is used as an offensive attack stat, supporting the auxiliary a bit.
Now for the requirements.  40 Strength may be a little tough for a true tank.  However, if it's a 5 Focus build, then you're covered.  35 Technology shouldn't be a problem, tank or not.

Sickle of the Harvest & Soul Sickle
These two parallel sickles cover the lower noobs, as in the 15-25 range.  They only cover Dexterity and Technology, and in the predictable format.  Sickle of the Harvest (Physical) has +10 Dexterity and +4 Technology, a weapon for aspiring tanks.  However, Soul Sickle (Energy) should be easier to use, as +10 Technology and +4 Dexterity offers more build possibilities than the first.
Even though they are low-level weapons, each is still 550 Rarity Score, the typical non-varium score.
Sickle of the Harvest requires 30 Strength, 25 Dexterity, and 25 Technology.  I think that maybe 30 is too high a number.  Soul Sickle requires 25 Strength, 25 Dexterity, and 30 Technology.
Good for the low-levels.

EpicDuel- Thanksgiving Day Weapons- The Clubs

ED's Wednesday release was pretty rare.  Mid-week releases only happen when something needs to get done early.  Such as, in this case, the Thanksgiving day release.  After all, the normal release day is Friday and Thanksgiving this year was on a Thursday.  But anyway- these Thanksgiving weapons are an interesting cache.  One thing I would like to note, though- overabundance of strength.  Actually, another- this release had 18 weapons.  That's gotta be a record.  Also, 18 is a lot, so I probably will have to split this up  (lack of time, can't do all in one sitting).

Let's start with the Clubs:

Soul Squasher
I like the design of this club, in particular how the artists (I can smell AQW from this one) took the physical club, Squash, changed the color scheme (blue-purple is the universal energy color apparently), stuck in a skull, and called it another weapon.  That must of been one hell of a time crunch.

This club, and its brother, Squash, seem to be suited for the support crowd of Mercenaries.  After all, Soul Squasher offers a +6 to dexterity, a +9 to technology, and a +12 to support.  It's been a while since I saw a Support-themed weapon with +12.  Kind of high, but there are other highs here in this weapon cache.

The requirements are mehh.  40 Dexterity, in my opinion, is a bit high for a Support Mercenary.

Squash
I like the design of this weapon.  The artists over at AQW have taken the cornucopia and added the distinct flavor of AQW to it.  After all, I don't exactly feel Nightwraith's drawing style here- it's got to be someone else.

Anyhow, as I stated above, seems to be for the Support people out there.  The only stat change in Squash is that it offers physical damage as to the Soul Squasher's energy and that it offers +9 dex and +6 tech.  Oh, and 40 strength is a requirement.  Is this really intended to be for Support Mercenaries?  Doesn't seem like it.

Infernal Android or Rusted Assault Bot?

Upon looking into my "traffic sources" window today, I found a search keyword that led someone to my blog- Infernal Android or Rusted Assault Bot?

Yeah, that's a good question.  Android or Rusted?  Out of all of my characters (disabled ones included), only one (out of three I use most often) has the Rusted Assault Bot- Merc1225.  However, I did not get the RAB for ReconnaisX primarily because the RAB (get used to it- I'm too lazy to type the whole name out) does not offer a whole lot of strategy.  (Just fixing a debuff.  Compare that to nomming an opponent's unmissables and disabling them for two rounds, or maybe protecting yourself in a bunch of thorns that reflect damage.  Fixing a debuff is pretty simple and straightforward.)  Also, I'm not the most efficient Credit grinder.

However, I still remember when the Rusted Assault Bot was first released alongside the Second Suggestion Shop.  Non-variums were more or less dancing for joy.  Well, I first obtained Varium (on Merc1225, the 2500 Varium package) solely because I wanted a robot.  As it was around wintertime, I got the Baby Yeti.  In most cases, the RAB outperforms the Yeti.  After all, you don't see a Support abuser every battle.  But that's off-topic.  Anyhow, when the RAB was released, I was a bit sour about it, seeing as I used (not wasted) 1900 varium on a pet that *would be following me in-game had Cinderella bitten Titan enough*.  (Not that I actually expected that, of course.)  Whatever.  And, why yes, off-topic.

Okay.  The RAB is good for general fixing of debuffs.  If you haven't noticed yet, debuffs are pretty common in battles, so it's an all-around good bot.  The price- 14,000 Credits, like a top-notch (but no Varium-par stats) nonvarium weapon.  Really, not bad.  And then there's that chance for it to drop in battle.  Just one setback- the base damage is 8-12.  Titan really meant the 'rusted' thing there.  The base damage is scraping the bottom of the barrel.  However, I think it may be possible to have a Tank build using this robot.  The RAB might not help much with its ability- you are a freaking tank- but in 2vs2, it could help your partner.  It mixes the high bot damage that tanks normally get (my highest- 28-32+30, but that was Tech abuse on ReconnaisX) with the low base damage of the RAB.  Even if you have 14k, don't get this just yet- the Infernal Android is a worthy competitor.

Now, the Infernal Android.  This was released in August to commemorate the end of the Infernal War (more like throwing all of my characters at the Vault and the Vault just IMMA FIRIN MAH LAZER).  The 'cool' factor that attracted lots of people was that it more or less catered to all of the population- for nonvariums, a Varium-par robot for just 14,000 Credits.  For variums, just 500 Varium.  No Credits needed!  It's currently the only bot to have two different styles of payment (refer to my last post on weapon pricing).
But what really attracted people was the special ability- Moar damage over time!  It was actually very overpowered at the initial release, abused by lots of people for 'fast damage' and 'quick kills'.  It reached normal damage at Round 3 and hit the damage cap (160%) at Round 7.  The devs fixed and nerfed it, making it reach normal damage at Round 5 and hitting the cap at Round 15.  It's still a great bot though.

So, in a nutshell: Infernal Android for Tanks/5 Focus, Rusted Assault Bot for general use.

Weapon Pricing in EpicDuel

There are seven kinds of main prices in EpicDuel:
1) Varium-only
2) Credit and Varium
3) Credit-only
4) High Credit-only
5) Credit and Low Varium
6) Credit and High Varium
7) High Credit and High Varium

I shall go through all these, because of the recent prices for certain things in ED.
NOTE: When I talk about price, I am talking about it from the viewpoint of a general level 30+ person.

1) Varium-only
Very convenient paying option if you have varium but are too lazy to earn credits.  This payment style is only a few months old.  The item bought has the same stats as its high-credit counterpart.
Examples:
Cardboard Crusader (1225 Varium)
Harbinger Husk (1225 Varium)

2) Credit and Varium
This is one of the older, more traditional ones.  The prices usually are 12,000 Credits and 995 Varium, with the exception of a few promotions.
Examples:
Machine Blaster (12k Credits, 995 Varium)
Dragon Buster II (15k Credits, 995 Varium)
E Megalablades (12k Credits, 995 Varium)
Megalazooka (12k Credits, 995 Varium)

3) Credit-only
This, for a long time, was the only way for non-variums to get their gear.  Items bought using this pricing were at non-varium par, and not as useful as varium weapons.  Typical prices are 14k to 15k  Credits, with 12k for some lower-leveled weapons.
Examples:
Crysaliss (15k Credits)
Celtic Claws (14k Credits)
Frost Scimitar (14k Credits)
Hazard Blaster (15k Credits)
Soul Harvester (14k Credits)*
Dread Cannon (12k Credits)*
*Do you even know what these are?  I might do a blog post on them and other related weapons.

4) High Credit-only
This is what is bringing non-variums up to par with variums.  It costs a lot, more than non-rare bikes.  I can barely afford this, as I don't play ED much.
Examples:
One-Eyed Axe (30k Credits)
E Charbinger Sword (35k Credits)
Harbinger Husk (28k Credits)

5) Credit and Low Varium
All of these weapons have varium prices under 500.  Most of them are sold at Zedmyr.
Examples:
Mjolnir 2 (13k Credits, 295 Varium)
Crab Crushers (13k Credits, 295 Varium)
Twin Phoenix Staff (13k Credits, 295 Varium)

6) Credit and High Varium
These are usually promotions.
Examples:
Azrael's Curse (14k Credits, 1200 Varium)
Bionic Battlegear (14k Credits, 1200 Varium)
Frost Destroyer (14k Credits, 1200 Varium)
Frost Slayer (12k Credits, 1395 Varium)
Delta Knight (14k Credits, 1925 Varium)**
Platinum's Pride (14k Credits, 1695 Varium)**
**Look at those Varium prices.

7) High Credit and High Varium
For the most expensive of the most expensive.  Obviously, all were promos at one time.
Frostbane (20k Credits, 1500 Varium)
Azrarel's Bane (20k Credits, 1500 Varium)
Celtic Cleaver (20k Credits, 1500 Varium)

RAGEPOST (concerning Snork)

Why does the drop rate for the Ebil Hazard Armor have to be 1%?  Snork isn't an easy fellow (at least for me) to kill in the first place.  Half the time I lose, and the other half I survive with under 10 health.
And then there's that 5 battles per hour limit.  -.-  REALLY?
REALLY?

On EpicDuel's latest release-

Shortly after my last post, I realized that I was a bit of an idiot to forget about yesterday's release in ED, so here it is.
In my opinion, the most exciting part about this release is the certain bit of loot that Snork may or may not drop.  I'm pretty sure that the devs implemented this one because people wanted the Bio Hazard Husk back.
The Bio Hazard Husk was the best nonvarium armor of its time, and at the moment, the only nonvarium armor with +8.  Well, this Ebil Hazard Armor (no doubt named because of the recent war) is not the best of its nonvarium class, only offering a +9 in either element.
However, it is still worth getting.  The +10 to strength emphasizes the "hazard" part of its name.  The +10 Strength does not exactly match up with the +6 Support, though.  But still- a rare.  So for me, #MustGet.  (Sorry, been on Twitter too much)

Heromart's t-shirt for the tenth anniversary has been released, so (of course) it has a matching item for each game.  In EpicDuel that happens to be Artix's Triumph, a level 32 Physical Sword.
Its stats are overly general- where general, in my case, means a +2 to Strength and Support, and +10 to everything else.  In short, it's related to the Celtic Cleaver.  The requirements are very low (30 Strength, Dexterity, Technology), so this is very flexible.  I like the art, too.  So if I were you, if I had some extra cash, I'd get the shirt.  But in reality- for the sword.  (If I wore the shirt to school, everyone would probably make fun of me for not converting fully to either Minecraft, League of Legends, or some other game that I do not know.  However, those are the same people who quit ED because they could not figure out the math.)

Probably the most important aspect of the release for nonvariums- a new buyable hybrid armor.
The first thing I noticed is that it is seasonal-rare.  Good.  Then I can wait till next year to get it.
Next- that it is a "one size fits all" armor.  Oh god.  And that it has 4 defense and 6 resistance.  Like it is catered to Tactical Mercenaries, what with their Mineral Armor.
But wait-!
1) It has 6 Strength.  For those tank strength TLMs...hmmmmm
2) +4 dexterity, because most TLMs don't need it.
3) +10 Technology.  IMO this is the fact that seals my idea that this is a TLM sort of armor.  Tech-abusing strength ones.

But still, it's good for all.

All the other Harvest gear has come back, including the Harvest weapons and the armor.  It's still worth getting the Reapers- do not underestimate that +14, followed by the +7.  And the special.  It is overshadowed (in terms of special) only by the Bionic Battlegear, but that is now gone forever.

Ebilcorp War At a Glance: ED and AQW

Hey guys, I'll try not to make this long and boring.
Okay.  So the Ebilcorp War has finally finished.  I still don't understand why they had to pull off something as big as this for their birthday.  I was actually worrying that we wouldn't make it.  But there's me, the obsessed gamer.
But of course we made it, because there must be other people like me out there.  (The only difference is that they spend way more time on the computer.)  And now that it's over and done, I'm going to recap what happened in AQW and ED.
To be honest, in both games (actually, all six) it was more grinding that storyline/plot.  In AQW, Chairman Platinum steals Battleon.  That's about as plot-ish as it gets.  He replaces it with this (somewhat different) town, which in AQW is referred to as (/join) Ebilbattleontown.  It appears that Chairman P has brought his bros with him, unleashing a pack of Level 45 monsters throughout Ebil Battle On Town.
Unfortunately for him, those very monsters act like they are level 25.  That's how AQW won.  They were second in the winner's circle (yeah, how did HeroSmash of all games get there first?).  So after all that grinding and lots of dead monster heads, AE (well to get into the spirit, I must call them EC from here on) released another 800,000 monsters for the players of AQW to tangle with.  Either
1) AE (AAACK! It's EC) underestimated how many players AQW has or
2) They want all the players of AQW to drown in the sea of monster heads.
I don't know if Chairman Platinum supplied a dump truck with his renovation of Battleon.
Because of course AQW would be the best game to put this on, for every game that reaches 100%, in AQW you get a reward.  Eventually, that all added up to a full set of equipment, PvP Necklace (from ED- where else besides Pony vs Pony) and Pet (AQ Classic) included.  The only thing that was missing was a class.
(On a side note, I wish that the Golden Trobble could attack.  All it does is watch and occasionally jump while you get pwned by the Greenguard Basilisk.)

And as for ED, it wasn't that much different.  Kimberly (One-eyed Doll) finally hopped on the ED train and ended up there.  She's gotten fresh armor and an almost-similar iconic axe.  She had (and still has) missions for people to complete (which you should do, by the way.  It's a pretty hefty credit reward in all).
There were (emphasis on were) several Ebilcorp NPCs scattered around and outside Fortune City for the common duelist to harass and choke war points from.  When 20% of the War Bar was filled, Chairman Platinum decided to congratulate the ED community by coming out to fight in a suit that is supposedly supposed to give you +7 Defense and +3 Resistance, and yet did nothing against the oncoming horde of people who were tired of harassing the Ebil Hazard and Corporate Ninja and saw fresh meat at the sight of Chairman Platinum's silver (it could be real silver, he's rich enough) hair.  Never the less, Chairman P was one step away from being tortured by some Level 1 noobs who were casting Plasma Bolt (not really) when all of a sudden the war bar reached 100%.  Then, for some reason:
1) The EC employees who were getting preyed on (my word use is intentional) happened to have an airline ticket for a one-way flight out of Delta V that activated when the bar reached 100% so no one could hit (on) them anymore.
2) The Ebil Hazards removed their suits, became regular Hazards, and lost (some gained) levels somewhere between.
3) Chairman P was decimated from the players who wouldn't even let him sleep on the park bench during the night (yeah, international players) so he had to hand out big money for you to practically buy five Health Packs for him.  Maybe all the stores in Delta V now have a plaque that says something like "We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone", the obvious anyone being Chairman P.
4) Chairman P now does not stand up in ED (literally).  Well, he knows his place in society now.
5) Mr. Z (from MQ) does not happen to send the Chairman an airline ticket to get his ass out of Delta V
6) Alydriah does not give a shit about what happens to the Chairman.  Therefore, Baelius does not, either.
7) (Probably the most painful one for Chairman Porky's wallet) Chairman P must hand out these epic bikes, or else the player community will ____________________.  And to make it all worse, even the Level 1 Noobs who use Plasma Bolt have them too.
